Professor’s Post (Topic):
In recent years, many schools have begun integrating digital textbooks and online learning platforms into their classrooms. Supporters argue that digital materials are more interactive, easier to update, and reduce the need for heavy printed books. Critics, however, claim that excessive screen time can harm students’ concentration and that traditional textbooks support deeper reading and note-taking. In your opinion, should schools replace printed textbooks with digital ones, or should printed books continue to play a central role in education?
Sofia
I think schools should gradually move toward digital textbooks. Online materials often include videos, quizzes, and interactive elements that help students understand complex topics more easily. In addition, digital textbooks can be updated quickly, which means students always have access to current information. For me, these advantages outweigh the drawbacks, especially since students already use technology in many other areas of their lives.
Daniel
I believe printed textbooks are still essential and should not be replaced. Reading on paper helps students focus better and remember information more effectively. Moreover, not all students have equal access to reliable devices or the internet at home, which could create unfair learning conditions. In my view, schools should improve traditional textbooks rather than abandon them completely.
Step 2. Write a response (about 120 words) stating your opinion on the issue. Be sure to:
- State your own view clearly. It brings you more points if your opinion is different from those of the students.
- Refer to the opinions of both Sofia and Daniel
- Use specific reasons or examples
